Kottayam: In a horrific incident that occurred early Monday morning, a 19-year-old youth, Shan Babu, was killed by a criminal, who subsequently carried his body and dumped it in front of the Kottayam East Police station in Kerala. He was soon taken into custody by the police.

Reports indicate that the criminal Josemon, a ganja and liquor addict, was recently placed behind bars under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities Prevention Act (KAPA).

Shan was taken from his home by Josemon in an auto-rickshaw later that night.

A police complaint was lodged at Kottayam East about Babu's disappearance after midnight by his mother.

In accordance with his bail conditions, Josemon was to appear before the local police once every week after getting out of jail.

Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, a former Home Minister and local legislator, said it's unfortunate that no serious action is being taken against the goon menace.

Radhakrishnan says the police have not been doing their job properly. He added that if they had, in fact done their job properly, Josemon may not have received bail.
