Thiruvananthapuram: The World Malayali Federation (WMF), a Vienna-headquartered expatriate forum, has launched an anti-drug campaign across all 14 districts of Kerala to raise awareness about the dangers of narcotics. The initiative will also extend to 166 countries where the organization has a presence, according to a statement released by its office-bearers on Tuesday.

Leader of Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, V D Satheesan, inaugurated the campaign at a function in Vienna on Sunday. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized that drug enforcement should focus not just on increasing the number of cases but on identifying and dismantling the sources of narcotics. He also stressed the urgent need for government mechanisms to break the drug supply chain, which is expanding at an alarming rate in the state.

The event was attended by noted businessman and WMF founder chairman Prince Pallikkunnel, along with other office-bearers of the organization, the statement added.
