Wayanad: Rahul Gandhi's 2024 record of a 3.65 lakh vote margin in Wayanad has been eclipsed by Priyanka Gandhi. She has received more than 6 lakh votes thus far. Gandhi is expected to keep the seat that her brother Rahul Gandhi had previously held.

At 8 a.m. today, the vote-counting process for 48 Assembly seats and two Lok Sabha seats—Wayanad and Nanded—began. With Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra making her election debut, Wayanad in particular has garnered national interest. She is running for the seat that her brother, Rahul Gandhi, formerly held.

Rahul Gandhi, who ran for and won both Wayanad and Rae Bareli in the previous general election, decided to keep the latter, which made the Wayanad poll necessary.

Meanwhile, Santukrao Hambarde of the BJP and Ravindra Chavan of the Congress are engaged in a direct battle in Nanded. The passing of Congress MP Vasant Chavan made the by-election necessary, TNIE reported.

On November 13 and 20, by-elections were held for 46 assembly constituencies in the following states: Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Assam, Bihar, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Madhya Pradesh, and Karnataka.
