Wayanad: Following the deadly landslides in Kerala’s Wayanad, not only the rest of the people of the state but many more outside have extended their minds to provide support and help. They offered essentials, logistic support, hands on rescue efforts, and more. Now, a news report by Madhyamam Online on Wednesday illustrated that humanity exists and is deeply rooted among humankind.

The news that made headlines was that a breastfeeding mother had offered breast milk to needy children who were affected by the deadly landslides in the hilly district of Wayanad. After the Madhyamam report, the social media took it, and more mainstream media later made it headlines.

It was the woman’s husband who announced in a WhatsApp group that his wife was ready to donate breastmilk for the needy from the disaster spot. The husband, identified as Aziz and a native of Wayanad, is a social worker, and he visited relief camps set up after the disaster. He realized the impact of the disaster, and when he shared this with his wife, she told him that she was ready to provide breast milk for babies in need of the same there. Aziz is a member of Youth League, the youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League.

The latest updated death toll in deadly landslides in Kerala’s Wayanad has reached 288 on Thursday, while 240 people are believed to be missing. Since this much is missing, the death toll is expected to increase dearly.

Due to heavy rains, the rescue operation in the region was temporarily stopped. Adverse weather conditions, building debris, boulders, and soil accumulation keep rescue operations difficult.
