Ernakulum: Stating that he wanted to strengthen the secular forces, a rightwing leader in Kerala's Ernakulum district resigned from Vishwa Hindu Parishad and is planning to cross over to the ruling CPI(M).

S Subhash Chand, the Ernakulum district president of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, elaborated in a press release his reasons for deserting the rightwing outfit, the News Minute reported

Chand said that he stepped down from all positions of VHP as he ideologically dissents with the Sangh Parivar outfits.

Chand represented the central government at the Kerala High Court being the Central Government Council (CGC) lawyer.

He was also Thripunithura President Thapasya (Vishwa Hindu Parishad People's Council for Social Justice).

The CPI(M) Ernakulam district committee published on Facebook Subhash Chand's statement which details his reasons for leaving the party.

Chand stated that the country will become a graveyard of communal riots if secularism gets weakened and added that every citizen has the responsibility to prevent it.

He decided to working with the CPI(M), because the party works for uncomprisinlgy for secularism and implements developmental projects too, according to the statement.

However, the party leadership has not stated what position he will hold in the CPI (M).
