Thrissur/Kerala: A Mild earthquake was reported in Kerala's Thrissur and Palakkad in the early hours of Sunday. Locals say they heard a loud noise. The tremors were felt in Kundamkulam, Kanipayyur, Anaikkal, Vellore and Erumapetti areas of Thrissur district. There were also tremors in areas like Trithala, Tirumatikode and Anakara in Palakkad district. The affected areas were those close to Bharathappuzha.

No damage has been reported so far. The district administrations have advised locals that if there is any damage caused by the earthquake, the nearest village office should be immediately informed.

It was only the last day Thrissur and Palakkad were hit by quakes. The event, which registered three on the Richter scale, occurred around 8.15 am on Saturday.

The earthquake occurred in Vellore, Kadangode, Erumapetty, Varavoor, Guruvayur, Pazhanji, Kattakampal and Mangad regions of Thrissur district. The earthquake was also felt at Thirumittacode in the Palakkad district. It was reported that there was a sound like thunder and tremors coming from underground. The last day's earthquake lasted for about three seconds.
