Kerala bandh today: A KSRTC bus was vandalised in Companypadi near Aluva during the 12-hour bandh called by PFI in Kerala.

Kozhikode: Sporadic violence has been reported in Kerala during the hartal called by the Popular Front of India on Friday, protesting the arrest of the organization's leaders nationwide and a massive raid on the premises of the party and leaders' homes.

The hartal called is from 6 am to 6 pm. Stones were pelted at KSRTC buses in various places mainly Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Alappuzha, Aluva, and Kannur.

The windscreen glass of the buses was broken. One driver of a bus in Kozhikode was injured near the Civil Station.

In the first two hours of the hartal, the attack occurred in 30 buses in the state. The government in its press release on Thursday had stated that protection would be provided to the state-owned buses.

In most districts, private bus transport was reported to be not plying which upset the plans of passengers who had ventured to travel.

The police had warned that those who use force in the hartal and coerce people to shut shops would be arrested.

Various universities have deferred the examinations of Friday and informed that revised dates would be announced later.

ADGP, Law & Order, Vijay Sakhare warned that anyone spreading rumours and wrong information via WhatsApp and social media would be booked under law. To this end, Cyber patrol would also be conducted.
