Shaajan is infamous for targeted attacking on Muslim community: TN Pratapan
cancel

Kochi: Shaajan Scaria, the managing editor of Marunadan Malayali, who is absconding to evade police arrest, garnered his fame by creating communal strife, fostering religious rivalry, and fomenting poison against individuals while specifically targeting the Muslim community, said Congress leader TN Pratapan.

Reacting to the support extended by KPCC president Sudhakaran and Ramya Haridas MP to Shajan, Pratapan said that no Congress activist with self-respect could justify Shajan, who had publicly insulted their national leaders Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and K.C. Venugopal.

A healthy criticism of politicians and public servants by the media can be welcomed; however, running a YouTube channel does not mean he could say whatever comes from his mouth against the public servants and communities," said the Congress leader.

The Kerala High Court has rejected an anticipatory bail plea by Shajan in a case filed by P V Srinijan MLA, and ever since, he has been absconding. The rejection of the anticipatory plea by the court itself proves that there is a case against Shajan, said Pratapan, adding that it is dangerous to drag the clan and caste of his opponents while criticizing them.

Pratapan further stated that Shaajan's actions were aimed at pitting minority communities against each other and portraying one community as terrorists. The MP expressed his intention to discuss with the KPCC president, aiming to persuade him of their point of view and position on the matter.

K. Muralidharan MP also joined in expressing his disagreement with Shajan Skaria's actions. Muralidharan stated that while the media has the right to criticize respectfully, he does not consider it journalistic activity to accuse Shajan of being out of touch. Muralidharan also criticized the tendency to suppress the Muslim community, noting that it resembled gang-like behaviour to him. Additionally, Muralidharan highlighted an incident where Rahul Gandhi was insulted, with someone suggesting that the party could only be saved if he left. Given the current circumstances, the court denied bail to Shajan.

Muralidharan pointed out the flaws of Srinijin MLA, including objections raised against him by his party. Muralidharan questioned the wrongdoing of Srinijin's caste, emphasizing that the case arose when he accused his community and sought anticipatory bail, which was rejected on merit. Muralidharan stressed the importance of following the law and questioned whether, as a Congressman, he could support someone who referred to Congress members as animals.

Earlier, K.P.C.C president K.K. Sudhakaran made a comment stating that his party would protect Shajan. Additionally, Ramya Haridas MP came out in support of him, which drew severe criticism on social media, even from Congress workers.
