Palakkad: As a result of two political killings in Palakkad, prohibitory orders have been issued in the district until 6 p.m. on April 20.

District Collector Mrunmai Joshi announced that the prohibitory orders would apply until then.

K Manikandan, the Additional District Magistrate, issued the order after a PFI activist was murdered and alleged reprisals were carried out against a member of the RSS in the district.

"The orders are issued to avert communal tension and disruption of law and order in the district," the collector stated in a social media post.

According to Section 4 of the Arms Act of 1959, the public is also prohibited from carrying weapons at public events, such as gatherings of five or more people, procession of any kind, or use of loudspeakers.

Furthermore, the people are advised not to possess explosives or spread misinformation.

Law enforcement and essential services have been exempt from the prohibitory orders.
