Palakkad: Husband stabs wife to death amid domestic dispute

Palakkad (Kerala), Feb 9 (PTI): A 52-year-old woman was brutally stabbed to death by her husband following a heated altercation in the early hours of Sunday, police said.
The shocking incident occurred at Uppumpadam in Palakkad district. The deceased, identified as Chandrika, was a native of Thottakkara near Tholannur.
According to police, Chandrika and her husband Rajan (59) had been facing long-standing family disputes. Investigators suspect that another argument broke out between the couple on Sunday morning, during which Rajan fatally stabbed Chandrika with a knife in a fit of rage.
Following the attack, Rajan allegedly turned the knife on himself, inflicting serious injuries, police said.
Their daughter, who was in the house at the time, heard her mother’s screams and rushed to help. However, she found the couple’s bedroom door latched from inside. Moments later, Rajan emerged from the room holding the knife, while Chandrika lay motionless inside.
Chandrika was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival. Meanwhile, Rajan, who sustained critical self-inflicted wounds, has been admitted to the Thrissur Medical College Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment, police added.
