Thiruvananthapuram: With Assembly polls months away, Governor Arif Mohammad Khan opened the last budget session of Kerala assembly with his policy speech.

Opposition UDF staged a walkout after putting up banners calling out the government for many allegations it has been facing over several months.

Leaders from across the bench asked the government to step down displaying placards in protest against Speaker Sreeramakrishnan and LDF regime.

The Governor arrived at the Assembly building at 9 am today and was duly welcomed by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and the Speaker at the entrance.

As the Governor began his policy speech, Opposition drummed up sloganeering, drowning his speech. Governor requested UDF lawmakers to allow him to complete his constitutional duty—following which UDF members boycotted the meet.

Meanwhile, the Governor in his speech termed the farmers protest the greatest resistance move in the nation.

Opposition leaders are holding a sit-in protest at the entrance of the Assembly hall.
