Thrissur: A 40-year-old man died after the scooter that he was riding collided with a chemical-laden lorry in this district on Thursday morning, police said.

According to police, the accident occurred at the Chalakudy Potta signal junction around 7:30 am, when the lorry collided with the scooter, causing both vehicles to catch fire. The victim, identified as Aneesh, a resident of V R Puram in Njarakkal, succumbed to his injuries.

Aneesh, a carpenter, was on his way to work when the accident happened, police sources said.

Chalakudy Fire and Rescue service rushes to the scene, deploying two fire tenders to extinguish flames.

A case has been registered, and an inquiry is underway, police added.
