Muslim boy steals hearts dressed as Krishna in Kozhikode Sobha Yatra
text_fieldsKozhikode: Streets in Kozhikode, Kerala bore witness to a heartwarming display of cultural unity and inclusivity during the Sobha Yatra, a part of Sree Krishna Jayanti celebrations, where an 8-year-old Muslim boy was spotted dressed as Krishna among children adorned as Krishnas and Gopikas on September 6th.
Muhammed Yahiya stood out as he enthusiastically participated in the Sobha Yatra dressed as Krishna himself.
Despite the heavy rain that showered on the procession, young Yahiya, who has physical disabilities and relies on a wheelchair for mobility, remained undeterred in his portrayal of Krishna.
Accompanied by his mother, Rubiya, who was in purdah, Yahiya waved and smiled at the onlookers who had gathered along the roadside to witness the rally.
Speaking to the media, Yahiya expressed his joy in being dressed as Sree Krishna, emphasizing his love for the role and how his mother had wholeheartedly supported his desire to participate.
Rubiya, his mother, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that their participation was solely driven by the desire to make Yahiya happy and not for any form of publicity.
Yahiya, a Class 3 student at Bilathikulam BEM Upper Primary School, had harboured this wish since last year, according to the organizers of the procession.
