Thiruvananthapuram: Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation has sent a closure notice to Marunadan Malayali Online, a controversial YouTube channel run by Shaajan Scaria, who is facing cases of defamation and spreading communally divisive content, its Thiruvananthapuram office.

The corporation cited multiple violations, including the absence of a license, unauthorized alterations to the building, and non-compliance with regulatory guidelines.

In a stern warning, the notice stated that the office must cease all operations within a period of seven days, after which the municipality would take direct measures to shut it down. The Marunadan Malayali office currently operates from the 6th floor of the Pattame flat in Thiruvananthapuram.

The municipal health department, responsible for monitoring compliance with regulations, further rejected the explanations provided by the representatives of Marunadan Malayali Online, deeming them unsatisfactory.

Representatives of Marunadan Malayali Online have not yet responded publicly to the closure notice.
