Thiruvananthapuram: Amid rising criticisms over Malayalam superstar Mammootty's remarks on director Jude Anthany Joseph, the actor tendered an apology through a Facebook post after netizens cited it as 'body-shaming'.

In the post, the actor expressed his regret for annoying some people with words that he used out of excitement while praising Joseph at the event. Further, he assured that he would be careful not to repeat such remarks in future.

Mammootty while praising the work of Jude Anthany Joseph during the recent trailer launch of the director's upcoming film titled '2018', said that "he might not have much hair on his head but he is an intelligent man".

Meanwhile, at the comment section of the post, the director himself said that he took those words as a compliment and was sorry that the actor had to apologise for his 'beautiful head'.

Previously, Jude Anthany Joseph had rejected the online criticism against the superstar, saying that his words were twisted.

He also put up a Facebook post supporting Mammootty and asking people not to criticise him and accuse him of body shaming.

"Neither me nor my family are worried or sad that I do not have much hair on my head," he said in the FB post.

The young director also said if people are really concerned about his hair loss, they should raise their voice against the shampoo firms and the Bengaluru Corporation water for the same.
