Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Monday recorded 19,688 Covid positive cases after 1,17,823 samples were tested in the past 24 hours, the state health department said. With 135 new fatalities, the total death toll in the state now stood at 21,631.

The statement by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the day's test positivity rate stood at 16.71 per cent. The day also saw 28,561 people turned negative taking the total active cases to 2,38,782.

Thrissur district accounted for the highest number of cases after 3,120 people turned positive followed by Kozhikode with 2,205 cases. number of positive cases in other districts are : Kozhikode - 2205, Ernakulam - 2029, Malappuram - 1695, Kollam - 1624, Palakkad - 1569, Thiruvananthapuram - 1483, Alappuzha - 1444, Kannur - 1262, Kottayam - 1020, Wayanad – 694, Pathanamthitta - 670, Idukki - 506, and Kasaragod - 367.

As per the data updated on September 5, 75 per cent of the population (2,16 crore) has been given at least one dose of the Covid vaccine, while 80 lakhs have got both doses.
