Kerala Oppn demand for Mukesh’s resignation countered by LDF
text_fieldsThiruvananthapuram: EP Jayarajan, convenor of the Left Democratic Front (LDF), has made an effort to counter the opposition's escalating demands that actor and Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] legislator M. Mukesh resign, by proposing the resignation of two Congress members who are accused of similar offences.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, August 29, 2024, in Thiruvananthapuram, Mr Jayarajan stated that if the two accused MLAs from the opposing political party set an example by resigning from their elected seats, then Mr Mukesh's continued presence in the Kerala Assembly would become untenable.
EP Jayarajan said that for the first time in history, a committee is being formed to study the problems of women in the film industry. The LDF convener himself came forward to clarify the position when the demand for Mukesh's resignation was raised by several including the CPI. All MLAs have the same rule EP Jayarajan said, added that the state government will take strict action on the Hema committee report.
A case was filed against actor and Kollam MLA M Mukesh on the actress' sexual assault complaint. Maradu police registered the case. The case was under non-bailable sections. The actress had filed a complaint with the Special Investigation Team that the actor had sexually assaulted her.
