Kerala only place where fearless writing is possible: writer NS Madhavan

Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned Malayalam writer NS Madhavan said that Kerala is a green haven in India where writing can be done fearlessly while those who write based on history elsewhere in the country are being silenced.
He said that efforts are being made to erase historical truths and that only a few places, like Kerala and Tamil Nadu, allow free writing.
He also said that those who write about facts in North India do not get a house to stay. However, he added that people in north India are more politically conscious than those of Kerala and that they are not ready to make any compromise on their vital issues.
The regional language has become of marketable value in writing and films, which was initiated by MT, he opined. He praised OV Vijayan’s Khasakkinte Itihasam, saying that when it was published in a series, the critical world was so stunned that they could not even raise criticism in the first few issues.
