Kochi: A migrant labourer from Arunachal Pradesh, who was beaten by a mob in Kerala's Ernakulam district passed away on Friday. Ten individuals have been detained in relation to the murder.

When Ashokdas, 24, went to visit a female coworker late on Thursday evening, he was viciously attacked by a gang. Ashokdas was employed at a restaurant in Valakom, close to Muvattupuzha in the district. The next day, the severe injuries claimed his life.

The migrant worker, a cook by trade, went to his coworker's rented home on Thursday night, according to the authorities. A group stopped Ashokdas on his way back and began questioning him. Ashokdas attempted to flee, but the crowd viciously attacked him and tied him to an iron post at the side of the road, the Indian Express reported.

Ashokdas was discovered to be badly bleeding when police arrived at the scene. They brought him to a hospital in the vicinity and then to the Government Medical College in Kottayam, where he passed away on Friday.

According to the authorities, they are investigating what prompted the attack. The woman Ashokdas went to meet hasn't lodged a complaint against him.
