Kochi: Government of Kerala has tendered an unconditional apology to the Kerala High Court for its failure to attach the property of the leaders of Popular Front of India (PFI) for causing damage to public property in connection with a general strike called by PFI.

Home Secretary of the state government appeared in person on Friday and tendered the apology. In an affidavit submitted today, the government assured the court that the revenue recovery proceedings would be completed by January 15.

The Court while accepting the response of the government, observed that causing damage to public property is a grave offence.

In its previous hearing, the high court had expressed displeasure over the government's dithering in the matter of confiscating the property of PFI leaders.

The hartal in question was called by PFI in late September in protest against the country-wide raids conducted by central government agencies, National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the residences of leaders and offices of the organisation.
