Kerala doctor pauses wedding ceremony to aid ill catering workers
text_fieldsKannur: A doctor in Kerala won widespread appreciation after she temporarily stepped away from her own wedding ceremony to provide first aid to two catering workers who suddenly fell ill.
Dr Shirin Subair, who was getting married to Dr Rizaz in Kannur, was dressed in bridal attire when she was informed that two women working with the catering team required medical assistance.
One of the women reportedly suffered a nosebleed, while the other complained of dizziness. Guests who knew that Shirin was a doctor alerted her, following which she attended to both women and administered first aid.
A video of the incident, showing the bride treating the women instead of continuing with the wedding rituals, has since circulated widely on social media.
Many users praised Shirin for responding immediately despite being in the middle of her wedding celebrations. Several comments described the gesture as an example of a doctor placing professional responsibility and compassion above personal festivities.
The phrase “first a doctor, then a bride” was widely shared along with the video, with users hailing her commitment to helping people in need.
While several social media users called the episode heartwarming, some also questioned why those present recorded the moment instead of allowing the doctor to attend to the women without distraction.
