Kollam: A 36-year-old Israeli woman, identified as Swatha alias Radha, was found dead in her apartment in Kerala's Kollam district. Her 75-year-old Malayali partner, Krishnachandran alias Chandrasekharan Nair, was discovered wounded alongside her.

The police confirmed on Friday that the couple had been living together for the past 16 years and allegedly decided to end their lives together.

The couple's unconventional love story began when they first met in a North Indian city, eventually relocating to Krishnachandran's ancestral town in Kollam district, approximately 70 km from Thiruvananthapuram.

Reports suggest that Krishnachandran, a yoga instructor in Rishikesh, and Swatha, his former student, shared a deep bond. However, their lives took a tragic turn when Krishnachandran faced a severe skin ailment.

Allegedly grappling with the challenges posed by his health condition, the duo decided to take the drastic step of suicide. Swatha reportedly attempted to end her own life by stabbing herself but was unsuccessful.

According to the police, Krishnachandran stabbed her at her request before inflicting injuries upon himself.

The discovery was made by concerned neighbours in the apartment building, who broke open the couple's door on Thursday evening. Both victims were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, where Swatha was declared dead on arrival. Krishnachandran is currently undergoing treatment at the state-run Medical College Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.

While the police are examining the contents of a suicide note left by the couple, they are also exploring multiple angles in their investigation.
