Malappuram/Kerala: CPI(M) leader and former state minister in Kerala, G Sudhakaran, said that Hamas should retaliate against Israel's attacks and that the crisis will end only when a bomb falls in Tel Aviv. He said that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should be arrested and presented before the International Court of Justice and slammed the United Nations, saying that the organisation is of no use. He pointed out that if a resolution is brought against Israel in the UN, the US will veto it, and India stays idle. India stays so because of its friendship with Israel, Sudhakaran slammed the Centre, saying so.

Speaking at the Palestine solidarity conference, he reminded that no atrocities like the one in Gaza have taken place anywhere in the world.

"Hamas is not that big a terrorist organisation. Hamas must retaliate. Modern weapons must be assembled. The problem will only end if a bomb falls on the Israeli capital, Tel Aviv. Israel has killed dozens of people in the last 24 hours. Such an atrocity has never happened anywhere in the world.

Meanwhile, the UK, Australia and Canada confirmed Sunday that they are formally recognising a Palestinian state despite vociferous opposition from the US and Israel, according to the Associated Press.

The coordinated initiative from the Commonwealth nations and long-time allies of Israel reflects growing outrage at Israel's conduct of the war in Gaza and the steps taken by the Israeli government to thwart any efforts to create a Palestinian state, including by the continued expansion of settlements in the West Bank.
