Kozhikode: In a sharp condemnation of the Left government's alcohol policy, Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Kerala Ameer, P Mujeeb Rahman warned that the liberal approach towards alcohol, which had resulted in a severe social and economic disaster in Kerala, may further exacerbate new decisions

He stated that alcohol is a social scourge and called for a complete ban on its production and consumption, accusing the government of expanding its availability through a recent cabinet-approved liquor policy.

Ameer argued that a safe and healthy life is a fundamental right and criticized the government for prioritizing revenue over the well-being of the people.

Mujeeb Rahman echoed these concerns, stating that alcohol is responsible for numerous crimes in the state. He accused the government of disregarding the suffering caused by alcohol consumption and demanded public agitation against the contradictory policies.
