Former Kerala CM Achuthanandan admitted to ICU
text_fieldsFormer Chief Minister of Kerala and veteran CPI-M leader VS Achuthanandan has been admitted to the ICU in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram with acute gastroenteritis followed by dyselectrolemia and altered renal function. As per the hospital release, his condition is being monitored closely in an intensive care unit.
Achuthanandan, who turned 98 on October 20 this year, was confined at his son's residence and did not entertain guests. He also exited from electoral politics and chose not to contest the state assembly elections held this year. He was made the Chairman of the Administrative Reforms Commission but quit it before the assembly polls. Achuthanandan served as Chief Minister between 2006 and 2001 and as Leader of Opposition from 2011 to 2016.
