Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Railway police said that a Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) on duty was pushed from a moving train to death by a passenger in Thrissur on Tuesday.

EK Vinod was checking tickets in the S11 coach of Ernakulam-Patna Express when one of the passengers pushed him from the train, The Free Press Journal reported.

The incident occurred at around 7 pm yesterday as the train was at Velappaya (Thrissur), between Mulangunnathukavu and Wadakkanchery Railway Stations.

The accused is identified to be a migrant labourer from Odisha and he was reportedly drunk at the time.

A probe is underway to determine what made the passenger to be thus provoked.

The incident is reported as the trains are experiencing increasing rush due to the holiday season.

Meanwhile, videos recently showed overcrowding in sleeper coaches causing difficulties to the passengers to even use essential services like toilets.
