Thiruvananthapuram: The upcoming movie "The Kerala Story" invites criticism over its content from across political spectrum in the state.

Congress leader and leader of the opposition in Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan called for the movie's ban, saying that it spreads misinformation.

His response follows the LDF government's taking note of the movie, initiating steps against it.

As the controversy stirred up over the movie teaser, Kerala DGP directed Thiruvananthapuram commissioner to register case against the makers of the movie as it paints Kerala as the hotbed for terrorists, according to India Today.

The teaser of the movie claimed that over 32,000 women from Kerala got converted and most of them were taken to Islamic State's hideout in Syria and Afghanistan.

The congress leader reportedly said that the movie is the clear case of misinformation as nothing it portrays happens in Kerala. He added that it is spreading hatred and be banned, adding that usually his party is against banning movies.

He said there was no record with the state police, and asked if there is anything with the central intelligence regarding the list of women who joined ISIS it should be brought to light.

The narrator in the teaser Adah Sharma says she wanted to become a nurse but was abducted from her home before being taken to IS terrorist camp in Afghanistan.
