Certificate forgery: prime accused Kerala man arrested in Mumbai
text_fieldsMalappuram/Kerala: The Malappuram Cyber Police have arrested Nisar Samje, the mastermind behind the scam that defrauded lakhs of rupees by hacking the website of a prominent medical institution in the district and producing fake medical certificates.
He is the main accused of forging medical check-up documents as part of visa procedures for people going to Gulf countries in the name of a prominent institution. The case involves hacking the user name and password of the websites Wafid and Mofa, which were granted to the medical centre, and creating fake medical certificates for people who were not medically fit to go to work in foreign countries. Police investigation revealed that the accused had embezzled lakhs of rupees in this way. 11 people were arrested earlier in the case.
The cyber team had earlier arrested an accused from Rajasthan named Ajay, who obtained a fake medical certificate in the name of the institution without appearing for the medical examination, and a travel agent named Naresh, who arranged the certificate for him. Subsequently, another travel agent from Malerkotla, Punjab, who helped make the fake certificate, and a Delhi native, Hatib, a travel agent named Al Mansoor, were arrested. The Malappuram cyber police also arrested seven accused who had gone abroad after obtaining the fake certificate. Lookout notices have been issued for the remaining accused abroad. The police said that the mastermind, Nisar Samje, was tracked down and arrested based on information from the travel agents arrested by the cyber police.
The investigation was led by Cyber Police Crime Station Inspector IC Chittaranjan under the supervision of Malappuram DCR B DySP Saju K Abraham, as per the directions of Malappuram District Police Chief R Vishwanath. Cyber team members SI Abdul Latheef, ASIs Riyaz Babu, Aneesh Kumar and CPO Dhanoop arrested the accused from JJ Marg in Mumbai.
