Thrissur: The body of a two days old was found in a bag at Thrissur railway station on Sunday morning, The News Minute reported.

It was reported that a sanitation worker noticed the bag on the bridge around 8.50 am.

The sanitation worker told the media that bag was noticed near the lift while cleaning, which was heavy and the worker informed the RPF official, who gave instruction to open it.

‘I opened it. It was the body of a newborn. The body was folded with a yellow towel,’ the sanitation worker added.

The Thrissur railway police are checking CCTV footage from the railway station and the nearby areas of the station.

Station House Officer (SHO) of Thrissur Railway Police, Thomas KO said the body was in a backpack.

The officer said police are ‘checking the CCTV visuals to identify the person who carried the bag.’

The body has been removed to the Thrissur Medical College Hospital for a postmortem.
