BJP-led NDA will form govt in Kerala in 2026: Nitin Nabin

Thrissur: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Saturday asserted that the party will come to power in Kerala following this year’s Assembly elections, claiming it enjoys the confidence of the people in the state.

Speaking on the second day of his two-day visit to Kerala, Nabin said the central government has significantly supported the state, including a 23 per cent increase in loans and a doubling of grants-in-aid. “The central government has never shown a miserly attitude towards the state, and these figures are indicative of that,” he said at the ‘Intellectual Meet on Union Budget 2026 and Vikasitha Kerala’ in Thrissur.

He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Viksit Bharat Budget 2026 aligns with the aspirations of the people of Kerala and opens up growth opportunities in sectors such as Tourism, the Rare Earth Corridor, and High-Value Crops.

Nabin alleged that decades of governance by successive LDF and UDF governments have caused stagnation in the state’s growth and decline in various sectors. He emphasised that Kerala requires structural change, fresh ideas, and visionary leadership, asserting that the BJP-led NDA is committed to delivering a ‘Vikasita Keralam’ (Developed Kerala).

He further claimed that while countries across the world are uniting to fight “Islamic forces”, “some people sitting in Kerala are strongly supporting such forces”. He called the situation “unfortunate” and warned it could negatively affect national security and development.

Nabin said that once the BJP-led NDA forms the government in Kerala, it will focus on protecting the state’s cultural history while promoting development. “Women, youth, and farmers will be empowered, and an environment will be created for the growth of business,” he added.
