Actor Jayasurya responds to allegations of sexual misconduct

The actor Jayasurya has spoken out about the accusations of sexual harassment made against him. He said that the "false allegations" have had a significant impact on him, his family, and his supporters in an open letter.

Jayasurya, who is currently in the US, responded to the accusations and explained his perspective. “To all of you who have wished me on my birthday today, and to all who are extending your support and standing by me, thank you,” the statement began, the New Indian Express reported.

On August 31, the day of his 46th birthday, it was released. The actor also said that he was going to file a lawsuit, promising that his legal counsel would take care of all the paperwork.

He highlighted how simple it is for people without conscience to fabricate false accusations and said, "I hope people understand that facing a false accusation of harassment is as painful as the harassment itself. Lies spread faster than the truth, but I believe that the truth will ultimately prevail."

"Thank you to those who contributed to making this birthday the most painful one," the actor further added.

The Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment Police filed the initial case of Jayasurya's sexual misconduct on August 28 under IPC Section 354 (intent to outrage modesty). On August 29, the state capital's Karamana Police opened the second case in response to a complaint from an actress alleging that he had raped her during a 2012–2013 filming near Thodupuzha. Charges under IPC Sections 354, 354A (A1) (I), and 354D are brought against him.
