Writer Vaishakan in soup over ‘opening’ BJP campaign

Thrissur: Writer Vaishakan found himself at the eye of a storm on Sunday after a photo of him with BJP leaders emerged.
The photo being circulated on social media purportedly showed him inaugurating BJP campaign, announcing the track record of the second term of Modi government.
B Gopalakrishnan handed over to the author the letter by Prime Minster and a handout. As well as disseminating them on social media, it was reported that Vaishakan inaugurated the programme.
The former president of the left-leaning cultural outfit, Purokamana Kalasahityasangham, inaugurating the BJP campaign stirred up a row in party circles and Pukasa.
Writers came out in the open criticizing Vaishakan. Another former president of the cultural outfit, Balachandran Vadekedath came down heavily on Vaishakan.
However, Vaishakan maintained that he was tricked into it by BJP leaders with no political decorum.
He said he had been caught in the schemes of the BJP leadership who had no doubt about his political views.
Also the author said he came to know about the inauguartion only through the newspapers.
