Thiruvananthapuram: The government’s easing of lockdown elicited mixed response from religious heads, with many chose to continue with strictures.

Not all places of worship of Muslim, Christian and Hindu would open to prayer.

Authorities of many Masjids were not in favour of opening them for worship in view of potential community spread.

Majority of church authorities decided to continue with lockdown norms.  While some temples got cleaned for worshiping, many others chose to remain shut.

Temples are to be opened with stronger strictures in place.  The meeting between religious heads and the Chief Minister decided to open places of worship from Tuesday on.

The district Muslim coordination head, Panakad Sadiqali Shihab Thangal said mosques in the district would not be open for the time being.

Mujahid Wisdom group said that mosques would not be open for worship.

Welcoming the opening of places of worship, Kanthapuram AP Abubakar Musliyar said places where observing restrictions is difficult, Friday prayers could be put off by a couple of weeks.

Temples including Sabarimala, Padmanabhaswamy temple, and Guruvayoor would open with strict norms in place.
