Biometric punching to be implemented in all government offices

Thiruvananthapuram: The General Administration Department has issued an order making biometric punching system linked with SPARK software mandatory in all government offices across the state.

Government, semi-government-autonomous institutions and grant in aid institutions will have the punching system. At present certain offices including Secretariat have the punching system.

The punching system is introduced to increase efficiency, output of the staff and improve public delivery mechanism.

The order asks all government departments to make biometric punching system within six months and in civil stations in three months.

Government departments and offices will either purchase the punching machines by themselves or through Keltron. The order also noted that departments should meet the expenditure for the machine from their present budget share.

Departmental secretaries and head of the departments are responsible to maintain the biometric attendance system without any flaws.
