Thiruvananthapuram: As the trouble within the Kerala Congress (M) over loksabha seat is brewing, Indian Union Muslim League leaders met Kerala Congress Mani leadership here on Monday. IUML general secretary PK Kunhalikutty and MK Muneer on Monday held discussions with KM Mani, Jose K. Mani and PJ Joseph.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Kunhalikutty said he had indeed held discussions with the KC(M) leaders.
The meetings with Mr. Mani and others gains attention since the KC(M) too has demaded an additional seat, either Idukki or Chalakkudy. The demand is due to pressure from Joseph faction. However, the Congress has turned down this demand and made it clear that only one seat can be given to the party.
Sources said that if at all the Congress is giving only one seat to the KC(M), then it should be given to Joseph faction. Joseph has made it clear to the IUML leaders that he is ready to contest in that seat. Joseph has made it clear that the Lok Sabha seat should be given to his faction as Jose K Mani has become Rajya Sabha MP.
UDF leaders believe that Mani would not put the alliance into pressure by demading two seats.
