Kozhikode: Various Muslim organisations have come out against the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) of India, terming them unconstitutional.

Jamaat-e-Islami Hind Kerala in a statement said that the CAB will destabilise the country and termed it as challenging the equal right upholded by the constitution. Jamaat-e-Islami Kerala Amir MI Abdul Azeez said that the Bill was discriminatory and the sangh parivar was yearning to reap political gains by infusing hatred and division in the hearts of the people.

Representing E.K. faction of the Samastha Kerala Jamiyyathul Ulema, Syed Jifri Muthukoya Thangal said that the Bill was against the constitutional principles of equality and prohibition of discrimination on the grounds of religion, race, caste, sex or place of birth.

Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar, Kerala Muslim Jama'at supremo,  said that the terms of the Bill were against the spirit of secular democracy and it was part of the efforts to convert Muslims as new Dalits in a new caste hierarchy.
