Sabarimala: strikes get stronger, demands remain vague

Pathanamthitta: Just as the strikes against SC verdict on Sabarimala women’ entry get stronger by day, the demands of the agitators remain vaguer.

Obviously, they are against women’s entry to the hill shrine. However, they are yet to be clear on who should take what course of action.

Instead of raising outright demands, the agitators are chanting Ayyapa mantras. As a result, even those who participate in the marches remain none the wiser. Both Congress and BJP are vying to turn the devotees’ resentment following the SC verdict against the state government.

While inaugurating NDA’s Save Sabarimala march, started off from Pandalam, Thushar Vellapally demanded both the Centre and the state governments to issue an ordinance to overcome the SC verdict.

But other leaders who spoke in the meeting blamed the state government for the impasse.
