Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state committee has suspended PK Sasi MLA for six months in a case related to sexual advances complaint given by DYFI Palakkad district woman leader.

Party committee has taken the decision after hearing Sasi’s version on the complaint.

Party in the action taken report stated that Sasi has acted unbecoming of a CPM leader.

The suspension is from the party primary membership. Sasi is presently Palakkad district secretariat member of the CPM.

Party commission which was assigned to investigate the case has reported that Sasi has not conducted sexual advances but reported that party can take action on the telephonic conversation he had made with the complainant.

The telephonic conversation that Sasi has made with the woman was one of the main evidence presented by the commission which included state law minister AK Balan and PK Sreemathi MP.

CPM secretariat has already accepted the commission findings and had passed on the party state committee to take action. It is to be noted that VS Achuthanandan had petitioned party general secretary for taking stringent action against PK Sasi.

Commission member PK Sreemathi while speaking to media persons said, "The action is related to the telephonic conversation which Sasi has undertaken with a women DYFI leader which can be sexually offensive language."

"The action taken by the CPM is unique and no other political party other than the CPM will take such an action," she added.
