KAS: Reservation in direct appointment only

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has said that reservation in Kerala Administrative Service will be applicable in direct appointment only. The CM said that the government has taken expert legal opinion from the Advocate General in the regard that the reservation principle is not to be followed in appointments via by-transfer and promotion.
"KAS will be implemented soon," the CM said in an interaction with representatives of service organisations, conducted as part of the second anniversary celebrations of the LDF government.
On other issues the CM clarified that DA arrears will be disbursed soon, health insurance scheme will be implemented, steps are being taken to provide housing loan for employees and that retirement age will not be raised.
The CM urged the service organisations to take stringent action against the corrupt officers in civil- service.
