Thiruvananthapuram: The government will not go back on the issue of minimum wage for nurses in private hospitals, Kerala Minister of Labour TP Ramakrishnan said.

He requested the hospital managements to implement the agreement, but added that the government was prepared for discussions with managements.

An appeal filed in the High Court by the hospital managements against the refusal of the court's single bench to stay the government order was rejected by the court. The petitioners, Kerala Privata Hospitals Association, and Malappuram Nims Hospital Chairman Husain Koya Thangal argued that if they implemented the April 23rd government order, the existence of hospitals would be in a crisis. During the hearing of the case, the petitioners sought interim stay which the single bench did not grant, and so was the appeal against it.
