Mahatma Gandhi’s statue damaged in Thaliparamba

Thaliparamba: In the latest report in a series of vandalism attacks on statues of national leaders across the country, an unknown person on Thursday damaged a statue of Mahatma Gandhi in Thaliparamba area of Kannur district.

The suspect pulled down the spectacles off the statue and fled the spot when people caught him in the act.

Sources said he also took off the garland around the statue and hit the bust with a stick several times.

The statue is located at the premises of the Taluk office here.

The police have launched a probe into the incident.
