Kochi: The investigation team probing the sexual assault case against Jalandhar Bishop Franco Mulakkal will leave for Punjab to question the Bishop.

The team will leave for Jalandhar on Wednesday as it has received the nod from the Home department to question the Bishop.

police decided to question Mulakkal over the sexual abuse complaint after conducting a month-long probe.

Kottayam SP Harishankar had said the other day that the investigation team would question Jalandhar Bishop this week itself.

He also said that the delay is natural as most of the witnesses in the case are women.

The investigation team has asked to produce the BMW car that the Bishop used to visit the Kuravilangad nunnery.

A report had surfaced the other day alleging that Father James Erthayil attempted to influence the nun who filed the complaint and her associate.

The telephone conversation of a priest trying to settle for a compromise was leaked in the media recently.

The audio clip reveals that the priest offered the assaulted the nun 10 acres of land and a new convent. If it is proved that there is truth in this, then Father James Erthayil will also have to face legal action.
