Mammootty becomes 'Kerala chief minister'

The star will play the role of chief minister and popular leader in the new film directed by Santosh Viswanath whose earlier film "Chirakodinja kinaavukal" was a big hit. The script of the new political thriller is by Bobby-Sanjay duo. The film's shooting will start by the end of the year, Santosh told Madhyamam.
The hero will demonstrate to the audience how a chief minister should conduct himself in the existing politics of Kerala. Since his role is of a leader of the people, only Mammootty can enact this role, Santhosh said.
It is after a gap of 27 years that Mammootty is hitting the screen as a political leader. The previous role he played was in the 1991 Balachandra Menon hit film Nayam Vyakthamaakkunn'. Subsequently in 1995, he enacted a similar role in the Tamil film of R K Shelvamani Makkal Achi.
Santhosh Viswanath's "Chirakodinja Kinavukal" starring Sreenivasan, Kunchacko Boban and Rima Kallingal, was a box office hit.
