Kannur: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Sunday in his speech following the inauguration of Kannur airport that government was ready to take over Thiruvanthapuram and Kozhikode airports.
He also asked the Central government to back down from privitising Thiruvanthapuram airport.
CM blamed UDF for delaying the commissioning of the Kannur airport; during the UDF tenure between 2001 and 2006 construction of the airport was frozen.
When V. S. Government came in power in 2006, works resumed. However, UDF in 2016 created an impression that the airport’s operations were started by landing an aircraft capable of landing at any airstrip.
