Training-Research Centre being set up for minority welfare activities
text_fieldsKozhikode: A new training-cum-research centre will be set up to implement the minority welfare activities under the state government. The new institution, named 'Minority-oriented Research Centre for National Integration' will be set up under Minority Welfare Department at the SAFI Institute campus in Vazhayoor, Malappuram district.
A land area of 5 acres has been gifted by SAFI management for the purpose, Minority Welfare Minister Dr KT Jaleel told Madhyamam.
Efforts have also started to avail central assistance for the project. The state government will grant Rs 10 crore for the project. A permanent training centre for madrasa teachers, civil service coaching centre, and research centre for minority welfare projects are the facilities to be established initially.
In addition to enriching the academic proficiency of madrasa teachers, training will also be offered to strengthen awareness about constitution, pluralism, secular society, fundamental rights, miority rights and civic obligations.
Two lakh madrasa teachers of the state will be divided into batches of 100 and given training over 5 days in residential mode. Until the new centre becomes functional, the training centre will start functioning inHajj House at Karippur.
The civil service coaching centre will be established in co-ordination with Central Hajj Committee. Smart class rooms will be set up in Hajj House.
The Central Hajj Committee is running a civil service coaching centre in Mumbai. The one in Kerala will be an extension centre of the same, and virtual class room will be arranged for that. Classes of eminent faculty in Mumbai centre will be transmitted live to the class rooms in Karippur. There will be facility for interactions and Q&A too.
Chief Executive Officer of Central Haj Committee Dr Maqsood Ahmed Khan, has given approval for the project. He has agreed to supervise the training too, said the Minister.
