V D Satheesan flays Shylaja for not responding

Kochi: Paravur MLA V.D Satheesan came down heavily on Health Minister K.K Shylaja for allegedly not responding to when he contacted her several times over phone for medicine and other provisions.

Despite calling up the minister for two days, she didn’t answer the phone, and even if called up her residence and asked to inform the minister to return the call, there was no response, the MLA said.

Director of Health said that everything was ready, but not even a single medicine kit was available. As a result, medicine had to be procured from private sources. DMO also didn’t pick up calls. Had there been warning of release of water, people could have been shifted. But there was no information, Satheesan said.

At the end of his tether, he said he flayed the minister; following this, rescue operation picked up momentum here, rescuing around two thousand people. About five thousand more were yet to be rescued, he said.
