Kozhikode: The intensity of rainfall in the state is likely to decline.

According to Met Department, a low pressure area has been formed over the Bay of Bengal, the shores of West Bengal and Odisha and is moving towards eastern Vidarbha and nearby regions.

This will reduce the fury of rains in Kerala.

A red alert has been declared in 13 districts except Kasaragod. Rescue operations to save the flood victims are progressing.

Adventurous rescue operations are going on in Aluva and Pathanamthitta regions to save the flood victims.

Water level has come down in many waterlogged areas. Fishermen are also partaking in the rescue operations with boats.

The water level in Idukki dam is inching close to its full capacity as heavy rains lashed the catchment area.

A high alert has been declared in the areas near the dam. The water level in the dam at present is 2402.35 feet. The full capacity of the dam is 2403 feet.

The district administration has not given approval to release more water.

The authorities have taken the stand that more water cannot be released as people are already facing difficulties due to the floods.
