Thiruvananthapuram: Private hospital managements of Kerala have made it clear that they will not comply with the government notification which fixed the basic wage of nurses at Rs.20,000. Kerala Private Hospital Association (KPHA) said that the salary has been hiked with retrospective effect and that is illegal.

The association said the notification was issued by blackmailing and warned that the treatment expenses will have to be raised to meet the expenditure due to hike in the wages.

Meanwhile, United Nurses Association (UNA) has served a notice to the private hospitals to give salaries as per the notification issued by the government. Nurses warned that they will go on strike without prior notice if the notification is not honored promptly.

UNA had decided to withdraw long-march and other protests as government issued the notification.
