HC verdict on Dileep’s bail plea Tuesday
text_fieldsKochi: The High Court will on Wednesday pronounce its verdict on the bail application of actor Dileep, arrested in connection with the abduction and sexual assault of an actress.
The court that considered the plea on Tuesday deferred the verdict to Wednesday to hear the prosecution's arguements.
Adv B Raman Pillai, who appeared for Dileep, criticized the investigation team alleging the police team did not share the investigation details with him. “No information has been given in the remand report. It is a right of the accused to know the charges tapped on him. That too is not reveled,” Pillai said.
The court will hear the prosecution on Wednesday before pronouncing its verdict.
Dileep filed the fresh bail application before the High Court on September 19, a day after a lower court rejected his bail plea.
When the matter came up before the court on September 19, Justice Sunil Thomas had asked whether there were any change of circumstances to consider the third bail plea filed before the High Court.
The court observed that the bail application can be considered "only if there are sufficient changes in circumstances." The police had submitted that at present there was no change of circumstances.
The judge, who deferred the bail application to September 26 for hearing, declined the actor's request for an early hearing on the application.
The actor has filed five bail applications before courts ever since his arrest on July 10.
Dismissing Dileep's bail plea on September 18, the Angamaly magistrate court had said a petitioner can apply for default bail only if the investigating agency fails to file final report within 90 days.
That was the second time the magistrate court rejected his bail plea.
The High Court had also rejected his bail plea twice. The court had dismissed Dileep's second bail petition that came up on August 29, after considering the evidence against the actor, produced by the prosecution in a sealed cover.
Dileep has been lodged in the Aluva sub-jail after being arrested in the case.
The Angamaly court has extended Dileep's judicial remand till September 28.
Six persons, including prime accused 'Pulsar' Suni, were arrested in connection with the actress abduction case.
The police have claimed that the conspiracy to abduct and assault the actress in a moving car and film the act was hatched by Dileep.
The actress, who has worked in Tamil and Telugu films too, was abducted and allegedly molested inside her car for two hours by the accused, who had forced their way into the vehicle on February 17 night and later escaped in a busy area here.
