Thiruvananthapuram: A probe has been launched against former Kerala police Chief T P Senkumar for allegedly making derogatory remarks against the actress who was attacked in a moving car in Kochi on February 17.

ADGP Sandhya is in charge of the investigation.

During an interview to a magazine, Senkumar had made a phone call and spoken about the actress in a derogatory manner. While he was speaking on the phone, the conversation got recorded on the interviewer’s gadget.

The interview itself quoted a controversy for the former DGP’s comment on minority communities. Later more details including Senkumar's comment on the attacked actress became public, kicking up a row.

The Women in Cinema Collective had come out strongly against the former top cop.

Earlier, ADGP Sandhya had submitted a report to the government, pointing out that Senkumar's statement was an attack on womanhood.

The young actress, who has acted in Tamil and Telugu film industries, was abducted and sexually assaulted in a moving car. While the main accused Pulsar Suni was arrested six days after the crime, actor Dileep was arrested on July 10 for plotting the attack.
